Blessing Agbo took case against Trinity College Dublin over fall down steps but videos played in court conflicted with evidence

A judge has dismissed a €60,000 damages claim taken by a psychologist against Trinity College Dublin after finding that she “over-egged her pudding” and exaggerated the extent of her injuries.

Judge John Martin ordered Blessing Agbo, of Greenmount Park, Green Road, Newbridge, Co Kildare, a former psychology student at Trinity, to pay the university’s legal fees in a case.

Ms Agbo (50) told defence counsel Shane English in the Circuit Civil Court that she had bounced down a flight of wet steps after leaving a lecture on the college campus on February 21st, 2017.

Mr English, who appeared for Trinity with Kerry Lyons of Ennis Solicitors, told Judge Martin that Ms Agbo told different doctors she had bounced, cascaded, tumbled and fell head over heels down the steps, injuring her foot, ankle, lower leg, hip, back and shoulder on her left side.

Evangelical Christian mother tells judge he will ‘stand before a higher judge and God almighty will put this matter straight’

Enoch Burke has begged a judge to release him from prison, but the request was rejected because of his ongoing refusal to comply with High Court orders.

During a hearing today, the schoolteacher three times asked Mr Justice Conor Dignam: “I would beg of this court to free me from this prison”.

However, the judge said that he had “no alternative” but to not release Burke because he did not propose to purge his contempt.

A schoolgirl who suffered an accidental acid splash to her face during a science class has settled her High Court action for €45,000.

Sarah Coleman was part of a first year science class when sulphuric acid accidentally splashed on her.

Her Counsel, Andrew Walker SC, instructed by Piarais Neary of Homs Assist Solicitors, told the court the accident happened when the girl was a first-year student at Old Bawn Community School, Tallaght, Dublin three years ago.

Counsel said sulphuric acid accidentally splashed on the girl during a science class.
